First Blog

Hi! I'm Ashley Iovine, I am a sophomore at TCU and I am majoring in Broadcast Journalism. I am involved in the Chi Omega Sorority and the TCU Showgirls dance team. I also love sports (particularly Boston sports teams) and all types of food, and I hate squirrels and I am deathly afraid of heights. I came to TCU because my sister went to school here and I fell in love with the campus and the atmosphere. If I were the chancellor of TCU I would change it so that there were no classes on Fridays. A good teacher is one who encourages active participation in class and who knows how to make learning fun and enjoyable. If I could have dinner with any three people (living or dead) I would pick Lucille Ball, to make me laugh, Frank Sinatra, to make me cry, and Ryan Gosling, to give me something to look at. Three things you should probably know about me are 1) I am definately a control freak, I wish I wasn't but I guess I can't help that 2) I love the television show FRIENDS because it never gets old and 3) I could read Harry Potter every day for the rest of my life and be happy. I would love to know what your favorite movie is, what would be your ultimate dream job, and what your favorite book of all time is (mine are To Kill A Mockingbird and The Great Gatsby). I chose to take this course because it seemed like afun way to get writing emphasis out of the way and I enjoy reading American authors because it's both entertainment and history. I do a lot of reading outside the classroom, and inside the classoom, if it's required I see no reason why I should exempt myself from reading it. I enjoy mysteries, romance novels, comedies, and autobiographies. I write news articles primarily for my journalism classes and I send dozens of emails and a ridciculous amount of texts every day. I feel pretty good about my writing because I have never had a hard time putting my thoughts into words. As a blog author, I feel like I will be very cheerful and insightnful in my writings and I think participation in the course will just come naturally because, as I said before, I enjoy actively participating in classes. I have read, understood, and agree to the syllabus for English 20503 with Amanda Irvin.
